‘WIDOW’S VEIL’ AT MERCHANT’S HOUSE

NEW YORK CITY — The Merchant’s House Museum will present the exhibition, “Behind the Widow’s Veil: Living with Death in the mid-Nineteenth Century,” opening Thursday, September 27, and on view through November 5.

From starkly macabre to heart-rending, visitors can experience the eloquence of Nineteenth Century mourners told exclusively through their own words and artwork. Scenes of mid-Nineteenth Century mourning, including a deathbed and a parlor funeral, will also be recreated.
