To the Editor:

I do not write letters to the paper often, but I felt the need to do so this week. As I was out and about on Saturday this past weekend, I saw Chris LaRocque walking the streets of Newtown saying hello to people. On such a nice day, when there are surely many other things Mr LaRocque could be doing, he was asking people what they had to say.

In knowing Mr LaRocque for quite some time, I can say that he cares about the people of Newtown. He wants to help. He sees the spending that is occurring in Hartford, the electricity rates increasing, taxes and fees increasing, and believes he has a better plan. I believe he does, and I know for sure that his opponent does not, as he has voted for every single budget increase over the past two years. For a supposedly independent thinker, he has voted 99 percent of the time with his Democratic colleagues. That record doesn’t support his independent thinker mantra.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting Chris LaRocque for State Representative on November 2, a fiscal conservative, who believes we can do better.
