How long have you lived in Newtown? We have lived here for 15 years. We moved from Danbury.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read, and I’ve joined the Prayer Shawl Committee at the United Methodist Church and have learned to crochet. I just made my first baby blanket for my brand-new great-niece. In my spare time, I like to just hang out at home and relax. I’m a big Yankee fan, so I was excited to see that A-Rod hit his 600th home run. I also am an Avon representative, part-time.

Do you have a favorite author? Debbie Macomber is my favorite. She writes fictional stories that are fun to read. She has three angels, “Shirley,” “Goodness,” and “Mercy” that are characters in her stories. Usually, they are trying to help someone on Earth accomplish something. It’s fun.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love to cruise. Our most recent trip was to Bermuda, and we’ve done the western Caribbean a couple of times. We also like to go up to Maine. It’s very peaceful there and a slower pace of life than around here.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s quaint and quiet and pretty. I love the Main Street with the flagpole. It’s a nice, historic landmark. The people here are very friendly, too.

If you could do anything you’ve never done, what would you choose? I’ve never gone to the Grand Canyon, and I’ve always wanted to hike down into it. That, and I’d love to drive up and down the Pacific Coast Highway.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Things always happen for a reason, so remain calm. Things always work out, one way or the other.

What makes you happiest? Having quiet time, and relaxing on the back deck.
