I-84 Rollover

State police report that motorist Jodie Ingram, 44, of New Hampton, N.H., was driving a 2000 Land Rover Discovery SUV westward on Interstate 84, near the Exit 10 off-ramp, at about 1:05 am August 12, when she lost control of the vehicle in the left lane of three lanes, after which it struck some metal-beam guardrailing along the right road shoulder, causing the SUV to roll over and come to rest on the exit ramp.

The SUV carried two passengers, who were not injured. Ambulance volunteers transported Ingram to Danbury Hospital to be checked for minor head pain, state police said. Sandy Hook firefighters responded to the accident.

State police issued Ingram an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane.

Electrical Item

On August 10, a length of orange-colored electrical extension cord was found at the intersection of Sugar Street (Route 302) and Scudder Road. Police are holding the item for safekeeping. The owner may claim it by contacting police at the police station at 3 Main Street (Route 25), telephone 203-426-5841.

Intersection Crash

Motorist Dakota Christiano, 17, of 160 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen sedan southward on South Main Street about 7 am August 10, attempted to make a left turn onto Mile Hill Road, but could not negotiate the turn, and the vehicle struck an embankment on the right road shoulder of Mile Hill Road, becoming lodged there, police said.

Christiano was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

South Main Accident

Motorist Eugene Marks, 89, of 22 Grand Place, who was driving a 2000 Toyota SUV southward near 85 South Main Street about 9:20 am August 10, slowed in order to make a left turn and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist William Henckel, 22, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Checker pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer, police report.

There were no injuries. Henckel received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police report.

Hawleyville

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Hawleyville Road in Hawleyville about 8:20 am August 10.

In that incident, motorist Paul Cummings, 51, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Mazda station wagon, was waiting at a traffic signal, when the Mazda was hit from behind by motorist Stefania Mingey, 40, of 3 Housatonic Drive, who was driving a 1997 Subaru sedan, according to police.

There were no injuries. Mingey received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

Moving Violations

Police report that they stopped motorist Jared Morris, 21, of Danbury about 12:15 pm on August 12 near the intersection of Currituck Road and Signal Post Road to investigate why Morris was not wearing a seatbelt while driving.

After investigating, police charged Morris with failure to wear a seatbelt and also with driving with a suspended license.

Morris was released on a written promise to appear on August 26 in Danbury Superior Court.

Lexus Off Road

Motorist Barrington Campbell, 52, of Bridgeport was driving a 1990 Lexus sedan westward on Currituck Road about 11:15 pm July 31, when he drove straight through the intersection of Currituck Road, Hawleyville Road, and Obtuse Road, police said.

The Lexus then went off the side of Obtuse Road and struck two stabilizing cables for utility poles, police said.

Campbell was not injured. Police said they issued him an infraction for a travel lane violation.

Driving Violations

At about 5:45 pm August 13, police stopped motorist Tonie Searight, 46, of Bridgeport on Currituck Road, near Parmalee Hill Road, to investigate a motor vehicle violation.

Police report they charged Searight with failure to display a front marker plate and with driving with a suspended vehicle registration.

Searight was released on a written promise to appear in court on August 26.

Mt Pleasant Road

Police report that they stopped motorist William Bruno, 41, of 1 Borough Lane on Mt Pleasant Road near The Old Road about 7 pm August 13, because an ornament inside his vehicle was obstructing his view of the road.

Police said they charged Bruno with driving with an obstructed windshield and also with driving with a suspended vehicle registration.

Bruno was released on a written promise to appear in court on August 27.

Two Charges

At about 4:16 pm on August 14, police said they stopped motorist Alexandria Sochor, 38, of Brookfield to investigate because the vehicle that she was driving on South Main Street, near Main Street, was crossing over the road’s center line.

Police charged Sochor with failure to drive to the right and with driving with a suspended license. Sochor was released on a written promise to appear in court on August 31.

Church Hill Crash

Police report that at about 11:52 am on August 12, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Church Hill Road and the Exit 10 ramps for westbound Interstate 84.

The accident involved motorist John Arena, 73, of Naples, Fla., who was driving a 2009 Honda sedan, and motorist John Pantan, 27, of 101 Castle Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Ford pickup truck that was hauling a trailer, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Arena a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Highway Incident

Motorist Kimberly McDonnell, 28, of Holmes, N.Y., was driving a 2007 Subaru Impreza with one passenger eastward on Interstate 84 near Exit 10 about 9:14 am on August 11, when a metal grill, which had been in the cargo area of an eastbound red pickup truck traveling in front of the Subaru, fell off of the truck, state police said.

The Subaru then struck the grill and made an evasive maneuver, resulting in the Subaru striking some guardcabling along the right road shoulder, state police said.

There were no injuries. The pickup truck was not located, according to state police.

Orchard Hill

Police report that while on traffic enforcement duty about 11 am August 13, they spotted motorist Richard Markham, 39, of 29 Wills Road drive past a stop sign without stopping at the intersection of Orchard Hill Road and Huntingtown Road, so they stopped Markham to investigate.

Police report that they charged Markham with a stop sign violation and with driving with a suspended vehicle registration. Police said they issued Markham a misdemeanor summons. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 31, according to police.

South Main Street

Motorist Junior Christie, 32, of Bridgeport was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi sedan northward, just south of 113 South Main Street, about 5 am on August 11 and then slowed for traffic conditions, after which the Mitsubishi was struck from behind by motorist Keisha Egbert, 23, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Honda sedan, according to police.

There were no injuries.

Police report they issued Egbert an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police said they also gave Egbert a written warning for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

Driving Violations

Police report they stopped motorist Trevor Flouty, 32, of Greenwich about 5 pm August 16 near 24 Mt Pleasant Road because the vehicle that he was driving did not have a front marker plate.

After investigating, police charged Flouty with failure to display a front marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Flouty on a written promise to appear in court on August 31.

Pickup Vs Sedan

Police report a two-vehicle accident on westbound Sugar Street, near its intersection with Elm Drive, about 1:25 pm July 27.

In that accident, motorist Jeffrey Tolson, 48, of 170 Taunton Hill Road, who was driving a 2007 Dodge pickup truck, struck the rear end of a 2007 Hyundai sedan driven by Lucie Petrini, 35, of 10-B Washington Avenue, police said.

There were no injuries. Tolson received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police report.

Rollover Accident

Motorist Mario Mendoza, 48, of Hamden was driving a station wagon on Berkshire Road, about 100 feet west of its intersection with Zoar Road, at about 5:30 am August 10, when while rounding a curve, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a traffic sign on the road shoulder, causing the auto to roll over on its roof, police said.

Mendoza was not injured. Police said they issued Mendoza an infraction for a moving violation.

Altercation

Police report receiving a call about 12:08 am August 19 alerting them that an assault was in progress at a Great Quarter Road residence, so they went there to investigate.

After they determined what had happened and learned who was involved in the incident, police set out to locate the two people involved.

Police said they located Ian Doerr, 20, of 49 Spring Trail walking on Bennetts Bridge Road. Police said they charged Doerr with second-degree breach of peace and with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

Police said they located Charles Ferris, Jr, 21, of 329 Berkshire Road at his home and charged him with second-degree breach of peace.

Following processing, police released Doerr on $500 bail and released Ferris on $100 bail. Both men are scheduled to appear August 31 in Danbury Superior Court.

Sandy Hook Center

A two-vehicle accident occurred about 12:53 pm August 17 near 107 Church Hill Road.

Police said that Marian Hatton, 29, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2003 International van westward on Church Hill Road, had missed making a turn at a driveway, so Hatton stopped and then backed up.

But in backing up, the van collided with a 2001 Chevrolet SUV driven by Lynn Lajoie, 44, of 8 Jacklyn Road, according to police.

There were no injuries. Hatton was verbally warned for unsafe backing, police report.
