Adopt A Dog From The Pound
Adopt A Dog From
The Pound
Theo, Winston, Russell, and Max are among the dogs are available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road (behind the transfer station).
THEO is a 1-2-year-old neutered male Pit bull. He has striking black and white markings and is very energetic. Since Theo has been impounded, he has made huge improvements in training. He is a goofball who loves to be around people. The best home for Theo would be one without other dogs or cats. Theoâs training will most likely need to be continued in his new home but he has a lot of potential. He has shown signs of heavy abuse and still manages to improve in many ways. Theo has grown on the staff very quickly.
WINSTON is a 4-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier mix. He has been evaluated by a trainer who has determined that Winston has been abused. Sadly, he does not react well with strangers and is very defensive. Abandoned by his owner, Winston only trusts a few people. He has made noticeable improvements and many of the volunteers at the pound like to take him for walks. Winston needs an understanding, patient owner with a gentle hand.
RUSSELL is a 5-6-year-old male boxer mix. Russell was in poor shape when he came to the pound. Like most dogs that come to the pound, he was initially frightened and had a hard time settling in. Russell was worked with and socialized and now many of the pound volunteers say he is a fantastic dog to walk with. He enjoys playing fetch and loves having his belly rubbed. However, Russell is a very strong dog and will most likely require a strong leader and owner. Russell would not be suitable in a home with cats.
MAX is a 2-to-3-year-old Shar-Pei. He loves to go for walks and play with his toys. He also enjoys lounging and laying in the sun. Max has gone through some basic training and is on his way to becoming a fantastic pet. He is not very comfortable around strangers but given some love and patience, Max can be a wonderful friend.
