A recent Gallup poll showed American confidence in the news industry is at an all-time low. Do or do you not have faith in the news media? And if you do, which news organizations do you still have faith in?

Karen O’Connell: The news media is not a very positive reassuring information source, more faith in nonprofit organizations.

Mario Bonito Jr: Overall, I’m fine with it, but at times there is too much hype. I’m a sports fan. I feel in general the New York papers put a lot of pressure on athletes to perform.

Deb Reid:  I really don’t have faith in the media. I honestly think it is a lot of propaganda. I have faith in things like Time and Newsweek. I think the mass media looks for sound bites, and doesn’t do good in depth stories.

Kirk Blanchard: I am not losing faith in the media. Of course, I take all reporting with a grain of salt, but I am not losing faith in the media. I read two to three newspapers a day.

Lindsey Greene: I’m an English major with a focus on writing. I have a real connection with print media. I feel the written media is so important. I’m concerned we are focused immediacy, and that we lose our appreciation for quality.

Sonia Brand-Fisher: I’m a film major, so I am extremely sensitive to film imagery, especially in the media. Sometimes I feel the news media shows images that will shock and inspire, and I think people are relying on images and what people can infer from those images.
