Garner Inmate Charged In Assault

State police report that while correction officer Ralph Marinaccio was working at the state’s high security Garner Correctional Institution on Nunnawauk Road on the afternoon of August 9, inmate Javier Omar Garcia, 19, spat on Marinaccio.

State police investigated and charged Garcia with assault on a correction officer. Garcia was presented on the charge the next day in Danbury Superior Court.

Garcia is serving an 18-month sentence in Garner on a second degree assault conviction, according to the state Department of Correction.
