Womenâs Business Workshop Series Beginning At WCSU
DANBURY â âWhile leaders in many US corporations are seeking to increase diversity in their workforces, 70 percent donât have a clear strategy for developing female leaders,â according to a survey by Mercer, a New York-based benefits consultancy.
With that statement in mind, The Womenâs Business Council (an arm of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce) is excited to be partnering with Western Connecticut State University to offer a Leadership for Women Series that will help businesswomen develop their leadership skills and enhance organizational effectiveness to meet key challenges and demonstrate tangible business results.
âTaking charge and making decisions is just one aspect of being a leader,â according to JoAnn Cueva, the series coordinator at the Danbury Chamber of Commerce. âBut listening, inspiring, influencing, motivating, and providing direction and guidance, those are the driving forces that separate good leaders from great leaders.â
The first workshop, âUnderstanding Your Leadership and Management Competencies,â will focus on self assessment of individual management and leadership styles and developing strategies that use the individualâs strengths to become a more effective manager/leader.
The workshop will be conducted by D. Arlene Kreinik, a former professor in the Management Department at WCSUâs Ancell School of Business, with a vast knowledge and experience teaching women about organizational leadership.
The workshop will take place on Thursday, September 15, from 8 am to noon at WCSUâs Westside campus, Ancell School of Business. The cost of the class is $130 ($100 for members of the GDCC).
