State Unions Wrap Up Voting
HARTFORD (AP) â Unionized state workers in Connecticut have wrapped up voting on a clarified labor-savings and concessions agreement that could roll back thousands of layoff notices issued in recent weeks.
The votes were scheduled to be cast Wednesday. The State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition, which represents 15 unions, is expected to officially announce the results on Thursday after The Bee went to press.
This marks the second time that workers have voted on the deal, which is supposed generate $1.6 billion in savings to help balance the two-year, $40.1 billion state budget.
