Nonstop Giving
Nonstop Giving
To the Editor:
We would like to thank all the Newtowners who donated so generously to the Faith Food Pantry over the last couple of weeks.
My husband and I have worked at the Faith Food Pantry for many years, and never had we seen the cupboards so bare as in these last couple of months (due to the combined increase in demand and decrease in donations).
After the wonderful Bee article regarding this issue, generous donors were nonstop during the food pantryâs days of operation. We had so many donations brought in last Thursday that my husband and I could not come close to putting it all away before leaving that night. Thanks to my wonderful friends (Linda Biscoe, Joan Salbu, and Sue Stokes) we worked the following morning for several hours putting it all away.
For those who might not know, the Faith Food Pantry is located in the basement of St Johnâs Episcopal Church in Sandy Hook (5 Washington Avenue) and is open Tuesdays, 10 am to noon, and Thursdays, 6 to 7:30 pm, to any individuals in need living in Newtown or Sandy Hook. Donations are also accepted during these times.
Thank you again,
John & Colette Ercole
