George W. Peart, 72, previously of Roxbury, Southbury, and Newtown, died August 16, in Danbury Health Care Center, where he had lived since December 2009. He was born in Bridgeport, December 19, 1938, the third of ten children of Edith (Rider) and James Peart.
Mr Peart spent his early years in Roxbury, and for many years he was a resident of the Southbury Training School where he enjoyed working on the dairy farm. From 1994 to 2009 he was a helper on the Andrew Sedor farm in Newtown, and was a grounds maintainer for the Newtown Shell Gas Station. He had many friends from his daily visits to the stores and shops in Newtown and Sandy Hook, including the Blue Colony Diner and Dunkinâ Doughnuts.
Mr Peart is survived by his only remaining sibling, Edith Peart, of Wolcott.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, at 10 am, Friday, August 19. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30 am.
