Things Happen, Or Not
Things Happen, Or Not
To the Editor:
While we all appreciate the effort that went into Newtownâs 300th birthday bash, I was a little surprised at the coverage. Several events did not take place as planned, yet the Bee reported on them as if they had.
The magician did not appear for some reason, and the horses in the Governorâs Horse Guard were too tired from the previous days practice to attend. We were disappointed, but understand that âthings happenâ. The most surprising thing was to read your article the next week, which appeared to have been written ahead of time!

(Editorâs note: The Beeâs story on the August 6 Tercentennial party was written on Wednesday, August 10, by reporter John Voket based on his observations and those of three other Bee reporters who attended and photographed the event. In our efforts to mention every activity on that day, the story mistakenly included the events referred to by Mr Dunn that were scheduled but did not take place.)
