The Lead Out Loud! Teen Leadership program received a recent boost when Wachovia Bank announced it would offer a grant to sponsor the program.

Hosted by Newtown High School and produced by the Esteemed Woman Foundation with support from the South-West Conference, the event is a full day conference for high school girls that will take place on Saturday, September 10.

Keynote speakers will include Olympic soccer star Kristine Lilly and Paralympic athlete and model Aimee Mullins.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the day will include an address from state treasurer Denise Nappier, followed by interactive workshops, and roundtable discussions with leaders in a wide variety of fields.

Parents are invited to attend special parent-only sessions such as “Stressed Out Girls” with Dr. Roni-Cohen Sandler and “Raising Healthy Daughters,” facilitated by Ruth Ann Lobo, mom of basketball star and sportscaster, Rebecca Lobo.

“We chose to support Lead Out Loud! because we feel it gives our teenage girls a unique opportunity to surround themselves with positive role models who are willing to share their personal experiences and mentor them,” said Ronald Coccaro, retail banking director. “This is just the type of program we want to wrap our arms around.”

Wachovia Bank is committed to building strong and vibrant communities, improving quality of life, and making a positive difference by improving education and strengthening the neighborhoods where they are located. “It feels wonderful to be supporting our girls to become strong, confident leaders who can take an active role in giving back to their community when they grow up,” added Jeanette Politano, manager of the Wachovia Financial Center in Newtown.

Early Bird Discounts are offered: $25 for students and $35 for parents prior to September 1, $30 for students and $40 for parents after September 1. Pre-registration for the event is required, as girls must choose the sessions they want to attend.
