Serious Accident Sends Two to Hospital For Medical Treatment

A serious motor vehicle accident involving two automobiles occurred about 7:11 am August 18 on Mt Pleasant Road, about 100 feet east of the Bethel town line.

The two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the collision occurred, resulting in heavy damage to both. Both motorists involved in the crash were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries.

A male driver needed to be extricated by Hawleyville firefighters. The man had been trapped in the vehicle for about one hour before being freed. The other driver was a female. Both were middle-aged.

The accident, which occurred at the start of rush hour, caused travel delays in the area.
