Donna L. Tenney, 52, of Woodbury, senior director of Community Programs for Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, died August 14 at Covenant Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa from injuries received in a motorcycle accident near Steamboat Rock, Iowa. Ms Tenney was with her longtime companion, Douglas Lyle, returning from Sturgis, S.D., where they had attended a motorcycle rally.

Ms Tenney was born in Danbury on March 7, 1953, a daughter of Edith (Berglund) Tenney of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown and the late Donald H. Tenney. She grew up in Sandy Hook and graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1971 at Newtown High School. She was a graduate of Fairfield University and earned a master’s degree from the University of Hartford.

In addition to her mother, Ms Tenney is survived by two brothers, James Tenney and his wife, Pat, and Steven Tenney, all of Sandy Hook; a sister, Judy Martinez of Roxbury; her nieces and nephews, Pam Quist, Christine Kirschenbaum, Lyn Stewart, Brian and Kelly Tenney; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 19, in the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road, Sandy Hook. Private interment will be in Zoar Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
