Chamber Members Tour Beardsley Zoo
The Beardsley Park and Zoological Gardens hosted an open house for members of the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, on Sunday, August 14.
Chamber members and their families gathered at the new educational building, constructed in conjunction with Jane Sharpe of Ward Cedar Log Homes. Members were welcomed by Animal Programs & Operations Director Don Goff and were given a brief introduction to the zoo and all its programs and exhibits, including on-site camps, business development days, birthday parties and other private function.
After viewing an award winning video, developed by Telemedia, zoo staff presented interesting information about their species survival program, which explained how the Amur tigers were granted approved for participation in the zooâs breeding program. Information was also provided on the two additional building projects in place, including a cedar log building offering a wolf viewing station and another to be used as a new Aviary. After the reception, members were given family passes to enjoy the zoo.
