The United States Achievement Academy announced today that Celia Song from Newtown has been named a United States National Award Winner in mathematics. This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. In fact, the Academy recognizes fewer than 10% of all American high school students.
Celia, who attends Newtown High School, was nominated for this national award by her math teacher, Nicole Leone. Celia will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook which is published nationally.
George Frederick OâDonnell of Sandy Hook, a sophomore at Gettysburg College, has been placed on the Deanâs Commendation list for outstanding academic achievement for the spring semester.
Matthew Klaus, a senior and music major in the College of Arts & Sciences at American University in Washington, D.C., has been named to the Deanâs list for the spring semester.
Peter J. Dittmar of Sandy Hook is among 516 students who are starting at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine this fall. Peter is the son of Daniel and Barbara Dittmar.
Jordan Miles, of Sandy Hook, has been accepted to American University in Washington, D.C.
Owen Kenneth Beams, a Dartmouth College student, has received the Rufus Choate Scholar award during the 2004â2005 year. The Rufus Choate Scholars are those students whose grade point averages are among the top five percent in the college for the academic year. Dartmouth is the ninth oldest college in the nation. Owen is the son of Ann and Mark Beams.
