Schools Plan Orientation Sessions For Parents & Students In Most Grades

As Newtown schools get set to open, newcomers to the district are invited to attend orientation sessions.

Newtown High School will hold a new student orientation session on Monday, August 21, from 10:30 am to noon in the auditorium. That evening, at 7, parents new to the district are invited to an informational meeting, also in the auditorium.

Freshman orientation will be held in the high school auditorium on Tuesday, August 22, 9:45 to 12:45.

Seniors and their parents are invited to attend a Senior Breakfast on Monday, August 28, starting at 8. This will be held in the main lobby and auditorium. The presentation will cover what to expect in the senior year.

Newtown Middle School has planned orientation for new parents, and those parents who missed the spring session, on Wednesday, August 23, at 7 pm, in the middle school auditorium.

Reed Intermediate School offers an information session to new parents and students on Monday, August 21, from 7 to 8 pm.

Hawley Elementary School invites parents and students new to the district to visit on Monday, August 28, at 8:15 am.

Sandy Hook School will host a walk-through for parents and students on Monday, August 28. Grades one through four are invited to come in between 8:30 and 10 am. Morning kindergarteners can visit from 8:30 to 9:15 and afternoon kindergarteners, 9:15 to 10 am.

Head O’ Meadow will hold “Meet the Teacher” for students and parents on Monday, August 28, from 9 to 11 am.

St Rose invites kindergarteners to attend an orientation session on Friday, August 25, at 11:15. Students will meet the teachers, receive an information packet and have a practice bus ride. Also on August 25, at 1 pm, there will be a new student orientation.

The Fraser-Woods School will hold a “Meet the Teachers” session for parents and students in pre-K and kindergarten on Wednesday, August 30, at 10:30 am. A parent orientation will be held that evening at 5:30.
