Police Arrest Five In
Mailbox Vandalism Spree
Between August 10 and 14, police executed arrest warrants against five people, charging them in connection with a vandalism spree on May 8, in which they allegedly vandalized approximately 30 mailboxes in the areas of Scudder Road, Brookwood Drive, and Taunton Hill.
Each of the five was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, reflecting property damage in the range of $250 to $1,500. One person was additionally charged with conspiracy to commit that offense.
Police said the youths used baseball bats to smash the curbside residential mailboxes.
Charged with second-degree criminal mischief and with conspiracy was Anthony Gadoci, 18, of 331 South Main Street, police said.
Police charged Quentin Ham, 18, of 6 Dylan Drive with second-degree criminal mischief.
Additionally, police charged three 17-year-old boys with second-degree criminal mischief. Because those three boys are under age 18, their identities are shielded by a recent state law. They are categorized as âyouthful offenders.â
All five who were arrested were later released from police custody on written promises to appear for August 25 court arraignments.
Gadoci and Ham will be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court. The three others will be arraigned in Danbury Juvenile Offender Court, which is closed to the public.
