Occupation: I am the owner of Lorenzo’s Restaurant in Sandy Hook.

Family: My daughter, Laurie, who works at Lorenzo’s. I have two grandchildren, Rylan, who is the dispatcher for the Newtown Police Department and the fire departments, and Meriah. Meriah will be 13 in December.

Pets: No pets. I’ve had pets, but they’re more work than children. And you get too attached to them.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve been in Newtown since 1958.

What do you like to do in your free time? There isn’t a lot of free time in the restaurant business. I close the restaurant for the month of January and usually take a trip. I like Saratoga horse racing in the summer. We’ve been going to Saratoga every year since 1962; I haven’t made any money yet! I go every Monday in August.

Do you have a favorite book? I read everything, so I can’t say I have a favorite book. I like mysteries, action-type things, and history books.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Probably the best was Alaska. I went there in ’95 with Laurie and Rylan. We took a cruise out of Vancouver. It’s vast and everything is beautiful.

What is your favorite memory of Newtown? Waterskiing in February on Lake Zoar and hitting ice. We used to wear dry suits and ski until the lake froze over.

If you could meet anyone, who would that be? John F. Kennedy. He was president when I was young and impressionable. His youthfulness and war record seemed to make him brilliant. He was a brilliant man.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Do hard work and be honest.

Do you have any dreams you would like to fulfill? I’ve been pretty much lucky enough to do everything I’ve wanted to in life. I’m content.

What is the most important lesson you have ever learned? From my father, I basically learned a work ethic. He also taught me at a very young age not to lie.
