Coldwell Banker Celebrates 100th Anniversary August 23

A lot has changed in the past 100 years. In 1906, a new Ford automobile cost $750 and each gallon of gas was 28¢. The average three-bedroom home sold for $7,500, and the most desired luxury room was…the sewing room.

While times certainly are different, Coldwell Banker, the nation’s oldest national real estate organization, has remained a responsive business neighbor in every community the company has served in its 100 year history, including here in Newtown.

To celebrate its deep tradition of connecting with the community, the Newtown office of Coldwell Banker at 17 Church Hill Road will take part as the company celebrates its 100th Anniversary in Real Estate August 23. The public is invited that day from 1 to 3 pm, to celebrate, meet the local office staff and team of sales professionals, and learn more about Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s resources for homeowners and buyers.

“When Colbert Coldwell opened his new San Francisco real estate firm in 1906, he put the customer first rather than follow the unscrupulous dealings of his colleagues,” said Peggy Doepper, president and COO of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y. “Today, 100 years later, Coldwell Banker has maintained its reputation as an industry leader and innovator that continues to uphold high standards for outstanding customer service.”

Coldwell Banker has achieved many “firsts” in the industry. It was the first to offer comprehensive service guarantees to home buyers and sellers. Coldwell Banker also transformed the real estate process into a consumer-friendly experience through its easy-to-navigate website, the first to provide nationwide listings in one portal. Its Coldwell Banker Concierge Service Program matches customers to local service providers such as contractors to assist in every facet of the home buying and selling.

Nationally, Coldwell Banker continues to serve as a community leader. Through the “100 Homes by our 100th Anniversary” campaign, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation and its affiliated companies raised approximately $5 million to support 100 Habitat for Humanity home builds. Coldwell Banker affiliated companies also support countless charitable endeavors, including the United States Marine Corps Reserves program, Toys For Tots.

Regionally, these endeavors include the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, which donates thousands of dollars to charities in Connecticut and Westchester County, and Project ALS — an organization at the forefront of funding cutting-edge scientific research to help millions of people afflicted with chronic neurological diseases, including ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries.
