Agricultural Fair & Expo

In Wilton, Aug 27

WILTON — Cannon Grange 152 will hold its 74th Anniversary Agricultural Fair & Exposition on the Grange Hall grounds on Sunday, August 27, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. Cannon Grange is at 25 Cannon Road, just off Route 7. Admission is free. Free parking is available at Cannondale railroad station.

Highlights of the fair will include judged exhibits and competitions in baked goods, homegrown fruits and vegetables, flowers, crafts, photography, sewing and needlework, poultry, fowl, eggs and rabbits. All departments will offer categories for children and adults to enter and win ribbons.

Baked goods and Cannon Grange souvenirs will also be for sale. There will be several contests, including adult and junior baking, quilt, and two-crust apple pie, all cosponsored by The Association of Connecticut Fairs.

Other attractions will include concessions, a snack tent, children’s games and contests for fun, such as watermelon eating, for all ages.

Civic exhibits will be provided by several local organizations: Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut, Connecticut National Guard, and Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps. An antique fire truck will be on display and will provide the perfect perch for photo opportunities.

Rules, regulations and entry blanks for the fair can be found in the bright-colored fair book, available from local merchants or by writing to Cannon Grange Agricultural Fair c/o PO Box 23, Wilton CT 06897-0023.

The Cannon Grange fair is an authentic agricultural fair that heartily recalls Wilton’s rural past, and is the only one held in lower Fairfield County. The competitions, exhibits and events are open to everyone, both youth and adult.
