50th Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Clifford Walker

Cliff and Marie Walker celebrated 50 years of marriage with a party held on June 25 in the Alexandria Room of the Edmond Town Hall. Nearly 80 friends and family members gathered to celebrate the couple’s golden wedding anniversary in the same space where their wedding reception was held 50 years before.

Clifford Walker and Marie Ferris grew up near each other on dairy farms in Newtown and met through Cliff’s friendship with Marie’s brother. Both graduated from Hawley High School in Newtown. They were married June 23, 1956, at the Newtown Congregational Church on Main Street. They have lived at 38 West Street for 50 years.

Mrs Walker has worked for the Cyrenius H. Booth Library for more than 20 years. Mr Walker graduated from the University of Connecticut College of Pharmacy and was a chief pharmacist for Fairfield Hills Hospital prior to his retirement.

The anniversary celebration was given by the Walker’s children, Darlene Spencer and her husband, Andy, of Newtown, Dale Walker and his wife, Carol, of Newtown, and Linda Uhde and her husband, Steve, of Sandy Hook. The couple also has three grandchildren, Karla and Jeffrey Spencer, and Adam Uhde.
