To the Editor:

As a Newtowner who has been here 40+ years, I have fond memories of Roger Sprung playing banjo around town.

I especially recall him playing at the Villa Restaurant to packed houses with everyone singing along and eating pizza. It was great fun! I also enjoyed his music at Roxbury’s Pickin’ and Fiddlin’ nights.

He is a true Newtown legend and needs to be remembered and honored.

While his passing is the end of an era, we are moving into a new era and I hope the young people will have as much fun as we had.
