Martin Andrew Sainsbury-Carter, 48, Arlington, Va., died August 2, after a heroic fight with cancer. He was a Newtown resident for 21 years, attending Newtown schools, and graduating from the Wooster School in Danbury. 

His wife, Stacy Fuller, and two beautiful children, Phoebe and Ian Carter; his mother and stepfather, Thea and John Dobos; his father and stepmother, Barry and Selma Sainsbury-Carter; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Adrian and Victoria Sainsbury-Carter of Los Angeles, and Neil and Kya Sainsbury-Carter of Seattle; and four nephews and nieces survive Mr Sainsbury-Carter.

He is remembered as a gentle soul with a huge amount of love for all of those in his life.

His career in computing architecture brought him to the Washington, DC, area 18 years ago, after growing up in Connecticut and attending college at the University of Rochester. He loved music, especially playing the piano, driving the family Mustang with the top down, and photography. His passion was for his family, who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service took place August 9, at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington.
