Occupation: I’m a third grade teacher at Wilbur Cross Elementary School in Bridgeport. I’ve been there for ten years.

Family: I have three boys. Nicholas is 25, Alex is 22, and Chad just turned 18. And my girlfriend, Mary, is the most important person in my life right now.

Pets: We have two cats, Kemba and Rugby. They are both rescues. One was found in a dumpster. They really belong to the boys, and Rugby is a real troublemaker. We also have a ball python. He’s not too big, so we don’t worry about the cats… yet.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve been here for 25 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I’m a member of the Newtown Choral Society. I’m also a sports junkie. I play baseball and shoot baskets with the boys, or whatever we can get our hands on. I love fishing. We do it all — fresh water, salt water, deep-sea fishing. I like to do yard work, too, and I do enjoy reading. I read more in the summer, when I have the time.

Do you have a favorite sports team? The Yankees are my baseball team, and I’m a big Washington Redskins fan for football. Hockey is a sport my family likes to watch, or go to the games. I like the Islanders.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love Puerto Rico. We’ve been there a couple of times. The people are friendly, the local food is incredible, and it’s beautiful. The flowers and the beaches are great.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The people. We have a lot of good friends. The schools and the sports are good, and Newtown still has that small town feel to it.

What is the biggest change you have seen in town? Obviously, the number of people and housing. I think it’s been mostly positive, though.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? I am the third in our family. My next oldest sister was an All-American basketball player, and she was a big influence on me. I looked up to her in sports, and in school. She was a very good influence.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I learned this from my dad, and I try to relate it to my kids and to my students: the Golden Rule. Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I’m a sweets fanatic, especially ice cream and chocolate. And my mother makes the best baklava anywhere.
