Newtown Rotary Golf Fundraiser

The Newtown Rotary Club will be holding its annual Jim Osborne Memorial Golf Classic beginning at 10 am on September 10 at Tashua Knolls Golf Club in Trumbull.

“This is Newtown Rotary Club’s major fundraising event of the year,” said club president Mike Toll. “Our primary focus in running this golfing event is to generate funding for our support of many nonprofit organizations in Newtown that do so much for those who are less fortunate. Plus it’s just great fun and a truly wonderful event.”

The Golf Classic includes the shotgun-scramble round of golf featuring prizes for hole-in-one, low gross, closest to the pin, longest drive, and closest to the line, plus BBQ lunch, cocktails, and dinner followed by a live auction and raffle. The cost is $190 per person for singles or foursomes or $50 per person for cocktails and dinner only at 5 pm. The registration deadline is August 31.

This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Mike Snyder, a longtime club member and former Newtown selectman who recently passed away. “Mike had been a member of the club since 1985 and was a two-time Paul Harris Fellow award winner as well as a hardworking volunteer on many Rotary projects. We will never forget Mike’s dedication, easy manner, warm smile and charming sense of humor,” said Mr Toll.

“There are still openings for golfers and tee sponsors as well room for more raffle and auction items,” said Golf Classic Committee Chairman Carrie Swan.

Anyone who would like more information can contact Ms Swan at 203-426-1230, extension 306, or visit the website www.newtownctrotary.org.

The Newtown Rotary Club comprises men and women who are in business and professions in the local community. Their activities are rooted in the concept of “Service Above Self” and provide support for many organizations and individuals to have a better life. Newtown Rotary meets every Monday at 6 pm at The Inn at Newtown. For more information visit the club’s website.
