Adopt A Dog From The Pound
The following dogs and cat are among those available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road (behind the transfer station):
LUCKY is a male Akita mix around 5 years old. Mostly black with a nice white chest and paws, this very handsome boy weighs in at about 85 pounds. He has a strikingly intelligent face with penetrating medium amber eyes. He loves to be petted, and is good with adults and some dogs. He will need some follow-up leash training but looks to be a valuable addition to any household with people willing to spend some time with him. He is a solid and very clean dog.
MISTY is an 11 month old black and white female mutt. She weighs in at 40 pounds or so but will doubtlessly gain some more as she matures. Misty was abandoned and, when found, was very shy. Her shyness seems to translate into an apparent mistrust of humans. But she is interested in people and appears to want to be interactive with you. Misty can become a devoted companion for a good many years to come. One word of caution: because of her shyness, she must not be allowed to roam. It would be highly desirable for her new owner to have a fenced in yard where she could exercise and learn to trust her new owner.
OSCAR is a very handsome neutered, male cat. This very gentle boy has a sweet disposition, is quite laid back, and very friendly. He is grey and white and weighs in at 18 pounds or so. While he apparently hasnât missed many meals in his life he has suffered the loss of his owner (deceased) but appears ready to accept a new owner willing to show him the love and affection he had grown accustomed to. Oscar will make a wonderful companion for a good many years to come.
