Police Arrest Eight On Warrants Following Dispute

Following their investigation into a dispute that occurred last spring at a Bennetts Bridge Road home in Sandy Hook, police sought and obtained eight arrest warrants from Danbury Superior Court for young males involved in the altercation.

Police said this week that the April 20 incident at 36 Bennetts Bridge Road stemmed from a dispute that had previously occurred at another unspecified residence. The Bennetts Bridge Road incident resulted in a motor vehicle accident on private property, police said. The complex incident took some time to investigate because the participants had been uncooperative, according to police.

On August 13, after learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a 17-year-old boy turned himself in at the police station and was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless driving, and evading responsibility, police said. After posting $100 bail, he was released from custody on a written promise to appear August 31 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

“Youthful offenders” are people who are either 16 or 17 years old, who are charged with crimes and whose identities are shielded from public disclosure by state law.

On August 10, three males came to the police station to surrender after learning of warrants for their arrest in connection with the same incident, police said.

Charged with disorderly conduct were Russell Menz, 18, of 34 Plumtrees Road, and one youthful offender. Also, police charged Jordan Rancourt, 20, of 36 Bennetts Bridge Road with reckless driving.

On August 9, four males turned themselves in at the police and were each charged with disorderly conduct, police report.

Charged were: Timothy Shepard, 18, of 1 Glover Avenue; Garrett O’Connor, 18, of 11 Avalon Way; George Burch, 20, of 41 Engleside Terrace, and also one youthful offender.

After arrest processing, police released Shepard, O’Connor, Burch, Menz, and Rancourt on written promises to appear August 23 for arraignment in Danbury Superior Court. The two youthful offenders were released on written promises to appear August 24 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.
