Locks Of Love Cut-A-Thon Planned
OXFORD â In need of a new look? Do you have six inches of hair or more to donate?
Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Road, is sponsoring a cut-a-thon courtesy of Michele from On Location Hair Salon to benefit Locks of Love. During the 3:30 to 6:30 pm session on Saturday, September 15, while the girls and women have their pony tails trimmed, boys and men can get buzz cuts for a donation.
Immanuel Lutheran has had a yearlong challenge with the children and women of its congregation to grow hair long enough to benefit Locks of Love. Seven-year-old twins Kerilyn and Madelyn Ruggerio have been growing their hair in memory of their mother, Nancy, who died of cancer in 2005 at the age of 35.
Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering hair loss from any medical condition. The organization meets a unique need by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.
The hair pieces help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. The children receive hair pieces free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.
To be a part of the cut-a-thon, call Immanuel Lutheran Church, 203-888-4713, or Debby Steckert, 203-888-1218. Pizza will be served for everyone while waiting for their hairstyles.
