Gardening Fair Returning

BETHEL — The 5th Annual Gardening Fair sponsored by the Fairfield Master Gardener Office will be on Saturday, August 18, from 12:30 to 5 pm, at the Fairfield County Extension Center, 69 Stony Hill Road.

There will be talks given by expert gardeners, demonstration and information booths, and guided walks. Talks will cover the topics of insects, favorite perennials, garden design, pruning basics, vegetable gardening, and composting.

Some of the many booths will include deer deterrents, invasive plants and weeds, shade gardening, and container gardening. There will be a weeds and wildflowers walk, and a walk in the Extension Center’s perennial garden.

In addition, Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer specific questions. Attendees are invited to bring a sample of their soil for free soil testing. There will also be a free plant raffle.

The fair is designed for the novice and the expert, and admission is free.
