A Summer Of Reading

To the Editor:

The ‘Tweens & Teens Summer Reading program at C.H. Booth Library has just ended, and it was a great success. Forty-five young people entering sixth grade or higher took part and altogether they read over 60,000 pages! Of the 172 different titles that readers chose, the most popular were the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

I would like to thank the following local businesses who generously donated prizes and gift certificates that were awarded in our raffles each week. These merchants know the value of reading, and the incentives are an integral part of the program.  We thank them for their community spirit: Bagel Delight, Big Y, Burgerittoville, Cave Comics, Dunkin’ Donuts, Edmond Town Hall Theatre, Franco’s Pizza, Ice Cream Shop, Mona Lisa Restaurant, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Drug Center, Newtown Pizza Palace.

Congratulations to all the participants and the sponsors in summer 2007!
