Day Camps Conclude With A Talent Show
For students who attended Newtown Parks & Recreation day camps at Dickinson Memorial Park or at Treadwell Park, the summer concluded on Friday, August 8, with a talent show that combined both day camps.
“It was great just seeing what they can come with,” said Newtown Parks & Recreation Assistant Director RoseAnn Reggiano, about the talent show.
Groups of campers, or sometimes individuals, took turns displaying talents they may have found while at camp this summer or talents they have been harvesting longer.
“Welcome to our 2014 Summer Camp Talent Show,” Ms Reggiano announced at the start of the event. “Good luck to everybody and I’m really looking forward to everybody’s performances today.”
The first group to display their talent was the ages 5- to 6-year-old Treadwell boys group, which grooved to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song.
Next up were the Treadwell age 5 to 6 girls, who performed to the song “Let it Go” from Disney’s Frozen.
Other students displayed artwork they created throughout the summer, some ran around the pavilion at Dickinson to show that skill, some danced, and others worked together as a group, like Dickinson ages 5- to 6-year-old boys who danced to Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
After the talent show ended, Ms Reggiano said campers played on the playgrounds at Dickinson.
Overall, Ms Reggiano said the entire summer was, “Fantastic. It was absolutely fabulous. It was really sad to see it all end.”
Ms Reggiano also said this was the “best summer ever,” and a lot of training happened before the summer to make it possible.
