New Assessor Starts Monday
Christopher Kelsey, a New Britain resident who is shopping for a home in neighboring Southbury, will start as Newtownâs new assessor Monday, August 18, according to Newtownâs Human Resources Manger Carole Ross.
Ms Ross said the candidate, who also received high marks from departing Assessor Thomas DeNoto, accepted the job offer earlier this week. He will be compensated at a starting salary of $65,000.
Mr Kelsey, who formerly lived in Thomaston and Wolcott, is leaving the position of deputy assessor in Rocky Hill, where he has worked since January 2006. He previously worked as an assessment technician in Meriden, and as a data collector for a computer company in Michigan.
He is revaluation certified in Connecticut for land, residential, commercial, industrial, and personal property. Ms Ross said Mr Kelsey was chosen from among nearly a dozen original applicants.
