Helping Hands
Helping Hands
To the Editor:
Last week, Newtown Congregational Church hosted the Ecumenical Vacation Church School. I was in charge of providing snacks to the approximately 135 children participating in the program.
I had many helping hands last week that I need to thank. I never would have pulled it off without their assistance.
I should start with Debbie Booker. Not only did she do a great job assisting me, but was a great sounding board when I had ideas or needed ideas.
Next are the wonderful youth helpers that I had in the kitchen. Harrison Buzzi, Chris Robinson, Emily Grier, Stephanie Badick, and Anthony Pagett. What a great group of kids! They were always ready to do any task. Sometimes they would be doing the job before I even asked!
I also need to thank my good friend Kathryn Wolf for coming into the kitchen after picking up her girls and washing dishes. Matt and Martha Crebbin also deserve a big thank you for making coffee and keeping up with the volunteer table. It took those jobs off my plate.
I also need to recognize Kelly Walker for running the entire week. Everything went smoothly and the kids sure had a great time. Also, Tina Fiorella and Jen Peterson for their contributions to a fabulous time.
Lastly, I must thank the businesses that contributed to our Vacation Church School through donations. They were Big Y, Dunkinâ Donuts, and Stop & Shop of Newtown and Costco of Brookfield. What a tremendous help it was to our budget and menus!
Thank you to all and enjoy the rest of your summer.
