Watercraft Taken
Police said they are investigating the theft of a personal watercraft from a dock on Lake Zoar at a Lakeview Terrace residence in the Cedarhurst section.
Sometime between 6 pm August 1 and 7:30 pm August 2, someone stole a red-and-white 1994 Yamaha Waverunner watercraft and a yellow ski tube from the dock at 165 Lakeview Terrace, police said. The watercraft was later found tied to a dock in the Riverside section, upriver of Cedarhurst, police said. The ski tube, however, is still missing.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact then at their tip line at 270-8888.
Church Hill Accident
Motorist Richard Stevens, 67, of Newington, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon, was stopped on westbound Church Hill Road and was waiting to make a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner parking lot at about 6:40 pm August 1, as motorist Thomas Nowicki, 53, of Newington was driving a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice eastward there, police said.
As the Dodge was making a left turn into the diner parking lot, it was struck by the oncoming Chevrolet, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Stevens a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Post Office Incident
Police received a report of an assault at the post office on Commerce Road at about 10 am August 7, so they went there to investigate.
Police said postal worker Mariano Rodriguez, 55, of Danbury, and Postmaster Paul Marciniak were involved in an argument.
In the course of the dispute, Rodriguez threw a metal container at Marciniak, hitting him in the stomach with the object, police said. Marciniak was not injured, police said.
Police charged Rodriguez with breach of peace. Police released Rodriguez on a $100 bond for an August 21 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Antler Pine
Sometime between 6 pm August 8 and 10 am August 9, someone drove a vehicle across a lawn at 14 Antler Pine Road in Sandy Hook, damaging the lawn. The incident caused an estimated $100 in damage. Police are investigating.
Old Green
Sometime between 6 pm August 8 and 11 am August 9, someone drove a vehicle into a mailbox at 35 Old Green Road, police report. The impact damaged the mailbox and a mailbox post, causing an estimated $75 in damage. Police are investigating.
Tunnel Road
Sometime between the late night hours of August 8 and the early morning of August 9, someone lit a firecracker and then threw it into a mailbox at 13 Tunnel Road, police said. The explosion caused minor damage. There were no reported injuries. Police are investigating.
Golf Cart Theft
Sometime between 8 pm August 6 and 5:30 am August 7, someone stole a motorized Club Car-brand golf cart from the Rock Ridge Country Club at 214 Sugar Street in Dodgingtown, police said. The golf cart is green and silver. It has a gray beverage cooler accessory. Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 270-8888.
Gazebo Key
Police learned on the night of August 10 that a person had found a Chrysler automobile key with a car alarm pad attached to the key in the gazebo at The Pleasance at the corner of Sugar Street and Main Street, next door to the police station. The owner may claim the item at the police station, telephone 426-5841.
Hawleyville Crash
Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Old Hawleyville Road and Farrell Road in Hawleyville about 7:40 am August 6.
Motorist Michael Lancaster, 35, of 9 Farrell Road, who was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse sports coupe, was traveling eastward on Old Hawleyville Road, police said.
At that time, motorist Mark Rose, 37, of 6 Nelson Lane, who was driving a 1996 Plymouth Neon, was traveling southward on Farrell Road, police said.
The Plymouth stopped at the intersection of the two roads and the Mitsubishi attempted to turn left onto Farrell Road, police said. As the Mitsubishi was turning, the Neon moved forward and the vehicles collided, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Rose a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Mt Pleasant DUI
Police report they spotted motorist Jeffrey A. Chontos, 29, of 6 Sunset Hill Road driving erratically eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Mt Pleasant Terrace, about 1:18 am August 12.
Police said they stopped Chontos to investigate and performed field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police charged Chontos with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
After processing the arrest, police released Chontos on a $30 bond for an August 26 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
ATV Damage
Police report that someone on August 9, 10, or 11 rode an all-terrain vehicle or vehicles through an unspecified field adjacent to Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, damaging the field. Police learned of the problem about 8:30 am August 11. The case involves third degree criminal mischief in which the damage is less than $250. Police are investigating and ask anyone who knows who caused the damage to contact them at 426-5841.
Altercation
Police report that they were called on August 7 to settle an altercation between Raymond Kordsiemon, 42, of 150 Hattertown Road, and Nathaniel Downes, 23, of the same address.
Police said they charged Kordsiemon with third degree assault and charged Downes with disorderly conduct. Both men were slated to appear the following day in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Police said that while they had Kordsiemon in custody, they realized that they held an outstanding arrest warrant on him. Police then charged Kordsiemon with issuing a bad check in connection with a payment that he owed to Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital last year. Police released Kordsiemon on bond for an August 21 court appearance on the check charge.
Mail Truck Accident
Postal worker John Stavola, 46, of Danbury, who was driving a 1993 Grumann mail delivery truck, was stopped to make a mail delivery at 140 Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville about 12:26 pm August 11, when the mail truck was struck by motorist Donald Flewellyn, 30, of 23 Tunnel Road, who was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer, police said.
As the Dodge was attempting to pass the Grumann, the Dodgeâs trailer struck the Grumann, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Flewellyn a written warning for improper passing.
Lighting Stolen
Sometime before 11:45 am on August 8, someone stole four boxes of walkway lighting fixtures from a porch at an Engleside Terrace home in the Riverside section. The lighting is valued at $75. Police are investigating the larceny.
Route 34 Crash
Motorist Daniel P. Griffin, III, 58, of Derby was driving a 1996 Isuzu Hombre pickup truck westward on Route 34, near Great Ring Road, about 1:14 pm August 9, when he drove off the road and struck a stone wall and utility pole, police said.
Griffin was not injured. Police are investigating.
Vandalism
Sometime between 5 pm August 12 and 11:30 am August 13, someone smashed a window and a mailbox at a business at 316 South Main Street in Botsford, police said. The damage is estimated at $520. Police are investigating.
Castle Hill Accident
Police said motorist Charles P. Hill, 19, of 50 Osborn Hill Road was driving a 1988 Honda Accord westward on Castle Hill Road, near King Street, about 11:38 pm on August 12, when he rounded a corner and encountered an eastbound vehicle with its high beams on.
Hill lost control of the Honda and drove off the roadâs westbound shoulder, police said. Hill was not injured. Police issued him an infraction ticket for making an improper turn.
Hattertown Road
Police said they investigated an accident that occurred on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Route 302, about 3 pm August 8.
Southward motorist John Bingham, 51, of Bethel was driving a 2002 Chevrolet K-2500 pickup truck, which kicked up some debris, police said. That flying debris then struck the windshield of northward motorist Louis Persico, 57, of Danbury, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet station wagon there, police said. The debrisâs impact caused Persicoâs windshield to break, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Cadillac Vs Cadillac
Police report that motorist Susan Proto, 51, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Cadillac Escalade sport-utility vehicle, struck the rear end of a 2002 Cadillac DeVille four-sedan driven by Kathleen Weller, 57, of 12 Pond Brook Road at about 8:30 am August 12. The DeVille had been stopped at a stop sign on Queen Street at its intersection with Mile Hill Road.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued warnings to both drivers.
Honda Vs Honda
Police said motorist Angela Schaedler, 38, of 11 Longview Road, who was driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan, struck the rear end of a 2002 Honda Civic driven by Brian Guidi, 21, of Ansonia at about 9:48 am August 12. The accident occurred at the traffic signal on westbound Mill Road at its intersection with Exit 11 of Interstate 84.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued warnings to both drivers.
