Three Artists' Work At White Silo Winery
Three Artistsâ Work At White Silo Winery
SHERMAN â The gallery at the White Silo Farm & Winery will present a special exhibition of new work by Paula Renee, Diane Mesagno and Phyllis Boger. An opening reception is planned for Saturday, August 23, from 1 and 5 pm. The White Silo Farm & Winery will also offer complimentary wine tasting at the opening.
The show will then remain on view until September 7.
Paula Renee is a multi-media artist who has received numerous commissions for her work, including the Tobu Hotelâs Presidential Suite and 17 lobbies in Kinshicho, Japan. Her work can be found in collections in nine countries, including the National Institute of Design in India, West Point Jewish Chapel, and in the collections of GE Capitol and IBM, among others.
She has exhibited widely for 25 years, at museums and galleries throughout the country. Ms Reneeâs work has been in and on the covers of numerous magazines and other publications.
Diane Mesagno, who divides her time between Florida and Connecticut, trained as an architect in New York and studied sculpture in Europe. While in Florida, the artist volunteers with the Spoil Island Group Helping to restore and maintain the islands of the Intracoastal Waterway.
She mostly paints âplein-aireâ from boat and shore, attempting to capture the beauty that surrounds us. She also carves figures and planters for the garden.
Phyllis Boger will be displaying batik paintings. Inspired by batik material from Southeast Asia, Ms Boger has used this as a starting point to explore hot wax resist using a traditional batik tool called a âtjanting.â Instead of dipping the waxed material into vat dyes, she uses various dyes and liquid acrylics applied with brushes to create paintings with a whimsical and playful nature.
âI find it exciting to experiment using a wide range of fabrics and papers,â says Ms Boger. âI am continually engaged by the unexpected works of art that this process allows.â
The White Silo Farm Winery and Gallery is in Sherman, at 32 Route 37. The gallery is open Friday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. For further information call 860-355-0271or visit www.WhiteSilo.com.
