Student/Faculty Pottery Sale Later This Month
BROOKFIELD â Bargain hunters and fine craft connoisseurs alike each year flock to Brookfield Craft Centerâs Annual Student/Faculty Pottery Sale. This yearâs weekend-long event has been scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31, 10 am to 4 pm both days.
The sale is held in the non-profit Centerâs Ceramic Studio on Route 25 in Brookfield, just east of the four corners intersection with Routes 7/202.
âInside our old 1800s post and beam barn visitors will find hundreds of handmade pottery and sculptural clay items all for sale at great prices,â states Kristin Muller, the centerâs education director and coordinator of the event. According to Ms Muller, who also teaches pottery on the wheel at the Center, â18-plus artists will display their work, all of which was made at the center during the past year.â
Some of the artists are faculty members and some are students at the national profile school for fine craftsmanship.
âA portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the pottery studio to purchase new tools and equipment, but the lionâs share goes directly to the artists,â says Brookfield Craft Center Executive Director John I. Russell.
The popular event is all volunteer run, provides a great opportunity to see a working pottery studio and meet some of the exhibiting artists, and even offers a head start on holiday shopping.
On Sunday from 1 to 4 pm the entire Brookfield Craft Center campus will also be hosting more than 20 artists demonstrating various fine craft processes.
