MOMIX Performance To Benefit Wellspring

ROXBURY — The internationally acclaimed performance company MOMIX and Litchfield County’s epicurean favorite, The Pantry, are teaming up to present an enchanting evening to benefit The Wellspring Foundation of Bethlehem. “The Midsummer Night’s Festival” will be Saturday, August 16, at Moosehorn Hollow Farm, the home of benefactors Holly Flor and R.V. Mangels.

The evening will commence with a reception, followed by a sumptuous repast orchestrated by The Pantry staff, led by owners Michael and Nancy Ackerman.

Following the poolside dinner, MOMIX, a company of dancer-illusionists under the artistic direction of Moses Pendleton, will present a private performance filled with surrealistic imagery.

The festival is being held in response to last year’s benefit, sponsored by The Pantry, and also held at Moosehorn Hollow Farm.  Those in attendance purportedly enjoyed the event so much Holly Flor and R. V. Mengels asked to host it again.

The Wellspring Foundation is a psychotherapeutic treatment facility providing day, residential and out-patient treatment for youth, adolescents and adults. This year’s fund-raiser will benefit the proposed Wellspring Barn Chapel Project, which is currently on the drawing board.

“For a child who has learned to distrust adults, the safety in relating to an animal is palpable,” explains Cassandra Beauvais, DVM, who is instrumental in Wellspring’s animal program. “The animal is real, capable of interacting with a human, but it is not out to get you. That relationship is a safe place to begin to care, be affectionate, and to trust.”

“This project … is a structural symbol of simplicity and silence, a place where the children can experience communion and healing power, and the mystery of creation,” adds Michael Ackerman of The Pantry.

Tickets for the benefit are priced at $175, $250 and $500. For more information on “The Midsummer Night’s Festival” and The Wellspring Foundation or to make a last-minute reservation contact Leslie Lopez at Wellspring, 203-266-8004.
