Interior Design Tours Offered
FAIRFIELD â University College at Fairfield University will host three interior design tours at Fairfield County businesses this September.
The tours, which will run on three Thursdays from 10 am to noon, will highlight a different topic for each business visited. Participants will meet Carol Brewer, a Stamford-based interior designer, at the entrances to each of the three businesses. She will introduce them to the owners, accompany them on their tour, and provide insights and explanations on aspects to be covered.
On September 4, participants will visit a rug weaver and learn to recognize a rugâs ethnicity through its color and design. Ehsan Mustafa, the owner, has mills in Pakistan and designs and distributes Oriental rugs, antique and new, all over the world.
On September 18, Mary Lou Lord will take participants through a marble factory. The family owned business specializes in natural and synthetic stone. Visitors will see factory cutting of marble and the designing of slabs and learn the difference between natural and synthetic stonework for countertops and other surfaces.
Lighting and fixtures for the home will be the subject of the last tour, on September 25. Jeffrey Heath, general manager, will describe the subtleties of lighting and offer ideas for the correct way to light a homeâs interior.
The cost of each tour is $25. To register by phone, call 203-254-4288. For more information, call 203-254-4307 or visit University College at www.fairfield.edu.
