Homesteads At Newtown To Host
Town Meeting With Nancy Johnson
Congresswoman Nancy Johnson will participate in an open forum town meeting hosted by The Homesteads at Newtown, a senior living and rental community, on Thursday, August 21, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. All area townspeople are invited and encouraged to share concerns, ask questions, and bring ideas to Congresswoman Johnson, who will also address the topics of Medicare, the recently passed prescription drug bill, and Lyme disease.
âTown meetings present a terrific opportunity to engage in a dialogue about the issues that concern us and to learn about the news coming out of Washington,â says Congresswoman Johnson. âThese meetings also generate many of the legislative ideas I bring to Washington. I invite area residents to join their neighbors in continuing this dialogue.â
Linda Silberstein, owner of The Homesteads at Newtown, comments: âWeâre delighted to be able to open our facility on behalf of the community. Town meetings are important avenues for different voices to be heard and weâre glad to be able to facilitate the process.â
Congresswoman Johnson, chairman of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, is a member of the conference committee hammering out final details of the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill. She is also leading the fight to create and preserve jobs in Connecticut and to strengthen its manufacturing base.
