Henry Kirchner
Henry J. Kirchner (Jordie), 85, of Newark, Del., formerly of Sandy Hook, died August 10 at the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville in Hockessin, Del. He resided at Somerford Assisted Living for the past three years.
Mr Kirchner graduated from Salesiarum High School and Villanova University with an electrical engineering degree. He was employed by the Sikorsky Helicopter Company in Connecticut until his retirement in 1955. His failure of health brought him back to Delaware under the guardianship of his niece Joan Hopkins.
He served his country in the US Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister. He is survived by his nieces Joan Hopkins of Wilmington, Del., Carol Wilberg of Newark, Del., and Janet Short of Selbyville, Del., and his nephew Robert Sheppard of Bear, Del., and other close friends.
Services and burial will be private.
