Fairfield University

Receives Video Grant

FAIRFIELD — A $30,000 gift from the Copeland Family Foundation in Milton, Mass., will help Fairfield University take a major leap forward in its video production curriculum. Under the direction of James Mayzik, SJ, director of the Media Center, the funds will be used to develop a new nonlinear editing suite that will feature the Avid Media Composer Adrenaline editing/effecting system, the premiere tool of choice for professional film and television production companies.

The Media Center uses its professional staff and students in projects and has garnered several awards for its work, including Fairfield University Then…Now, a historical perspective of Fairfield, a Bronze Telly in the History/Biography category of the 24th annual Telly Awards, and the Award of Distinction, both from the Communicator Awards.

The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field; the Telly Awards was founded in 1980 to recognize outstanding nonnetwork and cable TV productions and commercials.
