NHS Fall Sports Practice Schedule
All students who are trying out for a sports team at Newtown High School should bring the following items on the first day of practice:
*Physical Form â A physical is good for one year from the time that it was signed by the doctor. The forms are located in the NHS Nurseâs Office. No other form will be accepted.
*Parent Permission Form â A parent permission form must be filled out and signed by a parent and the student for each new sports season. These forms are located on the back of the yellow physical form.
*$50 Pay For Play Fee â All checks should be made out to Newtown High School.
*Substance Abuse Form â This form must be signed by both the parent and the student and is valid for an athleteâs entire career at NHS. These forms will be passed out by the coaches on the first day of practice.
Volleyball â Saturday, August 25, 9 to 11 am, in the NHS main gym. Be prepared to play.
Girlsâ Swimming â Saturday, August 25, 8 to 11 am. All interested swimmers should report to Treadwell Town Pool.
Boysâ Soccer â Saturday, August 25. All interested players should report with their running shoes to the high school track promptly at 7 am for the first session, which should last for one hour and fifteen minutes. Physical and parent permission forms will be collected at this time. Prospective players will not be able to try out without the required paperwork.
The schedule for the rest of the weekend will be: 9 to 11 am, all players; 3 to 5 pm, all players. Sunday, August 26, 8 to 10 am, group one; 10Â am to noon, group two; 3 to 6 pm, all players.
Girlsâ Soccer â Saturday, August 25. All interested players should report with their sneakers, cleats, soccer gear, water, etc, to the back field at NHS. Session one: 7 to 8 am; session two: noon to 2 pm; session three: 6 to 8 pm.
Boysâ Cross Country/Girlsâ Cross Country â Monday, August 27, 2:15, at NHS track. Be prepared to run.
Field Hockey â Saturday, August 25. All interested players should report with their sneakers, cleats, mouth guard, shin guards, water and required paperwork to Fairfield Hills. Session one: 9 to 11 am; session two: 2 to 5 pm.
Football â Monday, August 20, at 3 pm. All interested players should report with their cleats to the locker room at NHS.
