Patricia Wasicki (Patti), 64, of Sandy Hook, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, surrounded by family. Patti was born on March 16, 1959, in Parma, Ohio, and moved with her family to Trumbull, Conn., where she grew up. She was a graduate of Lauralton Hall and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing.

She became a nurse and worked for over 20 years at Bridgeport Hospital. It was through the hospital she met her husband, Henry (Hank) Wasicki. They married in August of 1981, and later welcomed their daughter (Shannon) and son (Kevin). The family moved to Newtown in 1991.

In addition to Bridgeport Hospital, Patti worked at Oxford Healthcare, St Rose of Lima Church, and United Healthcare. Anyone who knew her knows of her faith, kindness, and creativity. She loved her family and friends deeply and was always willing to listen, helping people through their journey of life. Her faith led her heart, mind, body, and soul, and she loved to share it with all. In addition to working at St Rose, Patti was an active member of the church, teaching CCD, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and was ordained as a Lay Franciscan.

She will be remembered for her kindness, joy, and contagious laughter. She loved to help where needed. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with her friends and family, especially participating in crafts (photo crop events), and anything to do with her grandchildren.

Patti not only loved her family but lived for them. She is survived by her husband Hank, daughter and son in-law, Shannon and Aaron Malin, and son Kevin, all of Sandy Hook; grandchildren, Ava and Tyler Malin; mother, Lois Doherty of Monroe; and siblings, Tommy Doherty, Eileen Doherty, Margaret Doherty, John Doherty, Paul (Nancy) Doherty, and Lois (Aaron) Aubin. She also was blessed with many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as so many lifelong friends. Her father, John Doherty, precedes her in death.

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate her life on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Honan Funeral Home in Newtown, Conn. from 4 to 7 pm. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, Conn. at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Patti may be made to Regional Hospice, who granted her a peaceful departure (regionalhospicect.org or checks can be mailed to Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810-5114) or Haiti180, Inc, a charity close to her heart (haiti180.com).
