Eden Hill Road Accident

Motorist Jill Russell, 36, of Redding was driving a 2006 Subaru Legacy sedan northward near 71 Eden Hill Road, near the Easton town line, about 11 am on August 4, when the vehicle veered to the tight and struck a utility pole, snapping that pole.

A section of the broken utility pole landed on the auto’s trunk lid, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said they issued Russell an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Construction Zone

A two-vehicle accident occurred in the Interstate 84 construction zone on the eastbound side of highway near Rochambeau Bridge about 11:56 pm on August 4, according to state police.

Trucker Gregory Vickers, 46, of West Orange, N.J., who was driving a 2014 Mack truck, moved to the right and struck a 2004 Jeep Liberty SUV driven by Raymond Koemp, 43, of Woodbury, state police said.

There were no injuries. Vickers received a written warning for failure to maintain a travel lane in a construction zone. state police said.

Two-Car Highway Accident

About 11 am on August 5, motorist Zachary Quigley, who was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro westward on Interstate 84, about 500 feet west of Exit 11, attempted to change travel lanes and struck a 2014 Toyota vehicle driven by motorist James Beckett, 25, of Middlebury, state police said.

There were no injuries. Quigley received an infraction for making an unsafe lane change, state police said.

Two Trucks

State police report an accident involving two Freightliner trucks that occurred in rainy conditions about 11 pm on August 5 on eastbound Interstate 84, about 500 feet west of Exit 9.

The trucks were driven by Melynda Chubb, 35, of Clarksville, Tenn., and by Abdoulaye Kinder, 45, of New York City, state police said.

After the collision occurred, Kinder drove away from the scene of the crash, state police. Kinder was found near Exit 15 of I-84, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Kinder was found to have caused the accident and was charged with violations including improper passing and traveling at an unsafe distance.

Sandy Hook Burglary/Larceny

Police received a report about 11:30 am on August 6 that a house on Jeremiah Road had been burglarized, resulting in the theft of several unspecified items.

The burglary occurred sometime between 10:30 and 11:30 am that day, police said.

Chevy Rollover

Motorist Angela Best, 44, of Bridgeport was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala westward on Interstate 84, about 200 feet east of Exit 9, on August 6, when she lost control of the auto and it then went off the right road shoulder, struck some guardcabling and then rolled over several times, state police said.

The auto came to rest upon its driver’s side. Best was transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for pain treatment, state police said.

Enforcement information was not available.

Sand Hill Plaza Accident

A two-car accident occurred near the southern entrance to Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street (Route 25) in Botsford about 2:12 pm on August 7.

Motorist Jervea Maelis Myers, 22, of Bridgeport was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry sedan southward on South Main Street, when it struck the rear end of a southbound 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan driven by John Kriz, 71, of Trumbull, police report.

There were no injuries. Myers received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Dickinson Park Accident

Police report that motorist Kathryn Prieto, 46, of 33 Poverty Hollow Road, who was driving a 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-350 station wagon in a parking lot at Dickinson Park at 50 Elm Drive at about 4:52 pm on August 7, backed into a parked unoccupied 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Conflicting Statements Follow Accident

State police report that a two-vehicle accident occurred on eastbound Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet east of the Exit 9 on-ramp, at about 6:20 pm on August 7.

The incident involved motorist Christopher Post, 58, of Watertown, who was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, and motorist David Troccolla, 53, of 155 Alpine Drive, who was driving a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck, state police said.

There were no injuries. Because the two drivers provided conflicting accounts of what had occurred, state police did not determine who was to blame for the collision and thus took no enforcement action. Both vehicles were damaged in the accident, state police said.

Minivan Off Road

Motorist Joshua Norco, 25, of Seymour was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan northward on Mile Hill Road South, near its intersection with Nunnawauk Road, at about 6:25 am on August 8, when the vehicle went off the left road shoulder and then struck a stone wall and a tree, police report.

Norco was not injured. Police said they issued Norco an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Device Found

At about 5:15 pm on August 12, a person reported to police that she had found an Apple-brand iPod handheld digital device at the Fairfield Hills core campus and turned it over to them for safekeeping.

Police ask anyone who believes that they lost such a device there to visit the station, at 3 Main Street, to claim it.

Multiple Charges

Police report they arrested two men on multiple charges on August 12 following an afternoon incident on Mohawk Trail.

Police said they responded to the area of 27 Mohawk Trail following a complaint concerning two vehicles and narcotics.

Police said they arrested Daniel Sheets, 21, of 27 Mohawk Trail on charges of traveling too fast for conditions, driving with a suspended license, possession of narcotics (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and interfering with police.

Police said they charged Timothy Wheeler, 23, of 8 Washington Avenue with traveling too fast for conditions, possession of narcotics (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and interfering with police.

Police allege that while they were investigating, both men attempted to hide drugs.

After processing, each man was released on $5,000 bail for an August 26 court appearance, police said.
