BRIDGEWATER — The 63rd Bridgewater Country Fair takes place Friday, August 15, through Sunday, August 17, at the Bridgewater Fair Grounds, 100 Main Street South. The fair kicks off with the Fireman’s Parade at 6:45 pm, featuring area volunteer fire companies from Connecticut and New York marching down historic Bridgewater Main Street.

The Bridgewater Country Fair is a classic fair, with farmers and area residents competing for prizes in livestock, produce, baking, and arts and crafts. See the latest in farm equipment, and enjoy the rides on the midway.

On Friday, sit back and listen to Flashback on the stage, at 8 pm. For the past 25 years Flashback has been entertaining and performing in the Bridgewater area, playing the music from the 1960s and 70s.

The Roots Rock Revue (RRR) explores the origins and evolution of rock music Saturday at 3 pm, and at 5 pm, New Milford resident JR Waters returns to the Bridgewater stage to perform his solo acoustic country program.

Tim Charron, a country rock recording artist who grew up in Warwick, R.I., performs Saturday at 8 pm. He currently has three albums out. The latest, Chasing The Sun, was recorded with country megastar Jason Aldean’s band. It contains a sound that is described as, “country rock with a twist of lime.”

Terra Coda: World Percussion Quintet featuring John Marshall is on stage Sunday at 1 pm. A Terra Coda presentation features both melody and rhythm, all performed on beautiful, handmade traditional instruments that capture the pulse of the Middle East, West Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, India, and beyond.

Freestyle motocross, Billy Steers and Tractor Mac, hot dog racing pigs, Bingo, and a border collie herding demonstration are just a few more Bridgewater Country Fair attractions over the weekend.

Food tents mean plenty of food options for fairgoers. The Bridgewater Fair is famous for its roast beef sandwiches, chicken breasts — and even the simple hot dog.

This year, The Lions Club of Connecticut will be performing free eye screenings for children during the Bridgewater Fair, on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 3 pm. This test only takes seconds and provides the parents with a “pass or refer” result.

Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, Saturday and Sunday, and children under 12 are free. Bridgewater Fair weekend passes are available at the Mobil Station and the Bridgewater Village Store. The tickets are $16 and good for all three days.

Parking is free. Gates open Friday from 4 to 11 pm; Saturday, 8 am to 11 pm; and Sunday, 8 am to 6 pm.
