Town Players To Host Auditions For 'Veronica's Room'
Town Players of Newtown announces auditions for Veronica’s Room by Ira Levin, to take place on Monday and Tuesday, September 16-17. Auditions will run from 7:30 to 9 each night at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road.
This chilling mystery thriller by the author of Deathtrap and Rosemary’s Baby explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder. Students Susan and Larry find themselves invited to the Brabissant mansion by its licentious caretakers, the lonely Mackeys. Amazed by Susan’s strong resemblance to Veronica Brabissant, long-dead daughter of the family for whom they work, the older couple gradually convince her to impersonate Veronica briefly to solace the only living Brabissant, an addled sister who believes Veronica alive.
Once dressed in Veronica’s clothes, Susan finds herself locked in the role and locked in Veronica’s room — or is she Veronica, pretending to be Susan?
Pam Meister Jones of Newtown will direct the production, which will be staged over ten performances November 8-30 including Thanksgiving weekend.
The cast calls for two men and two women. A credible Irish brogue for the older man and woman and a regional Boston accent for all characters are essential.
Those auditioning should read the play in advance and be ready to read from sides from the script. No appointment is necessary.
All roles are available and open to both professionals and amateurs alike.
Rehearsals will begin the week of September 22.
