Martha Eileen Nowacki

Devoted Wife, Mother Of Four, Loving Grandmother

Martha Eileen Nowacki, 65, of Sandy Hook, died August 6. She was born in New York City, October 19, 1943.

A resident of Newtown for 24 years, Mrs Nowacki is survived by her husband, Donald; son, David, and his wife, Laura Nowacki, and their four children of Newtown, and son, Stefan, and his wife, Jennie Nowacki, and their two children, all of Newtown; daughter, Gwendolyn Nowacki and her six children of Burlington; daughter, Amy Nowacki of Sanibel, Fla.; sister, Ellen Grassi of Southbury; and her mother, Mary Grassi of Bethel. She lives on in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Annie and Belle.

Ms Nowacki grew up in a loving Italian family in Little Neck, L.I., and graduated Queens College, New York, with a BS in chemistry in 1964. She and her husband, a 1963 graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy of Kings Point, L.I., married on December 5, 1964, and enjoyed 45 years of life and family together. The family followed Mr Nowacki’s job from Connecticut to Pittsburgh, to Houston, and back to Connecticut, and Newtown, where the family has remained for more than 24 years.

She was a chemist and medical researcher at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City before devoting herself to raising her family. In Newtown, she worked part-time at Chintz ‘n’ Printz for more than 20 years.

Ms Nowacki held very high standards for herself and for those around her, and was a beautiful, intelligent, creative lady, who blessed all she knew with her caring ways. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A service of remembrance was held August 10. Interment was at Newtown Village Cemetery.
