Homesteads Under New Management Of Methodist Homes Affiliate

Homesteads at Newtown, a local senior living community, announced July 22 a change in management. The Long Hill Company of Shelton, has taken over management of Homesteads at Newtown as part of a receivership assignment to increase census and enhance the quality of care for residents. The Long Hill Company is managing day-to-day operations, services, and care at Homesteads at Newtown.

The Long Hill Company, a proprietary subsidiary of United Methodist Homes, has a successful track record in receivership assignments according to Steve Kegler, president of The Long Hill Company. With a 100-year tradition of service and care characterized by the parent company, United Methodist Homes, The Long Hill Company has worked with lenders, operators, state Departments of Health and CMS regulators acting as a receiver and functioning as a third party operation manager on a short- or long-term basis.

“We began taking on receivership assignments in 2002 and have since completed 15–20 assignments for various organizations,” Mr Kegler said in a release. “Our expertise, strong financial backing, and long tradition of quality care and management will provide the right type of stewardship needed to transform Homesteads at Newtown into a viable and successful senior living community.”

According to Mr Kegler, Homesteads at Newtown is a community with a strong foundation that represents a great opportunity for growth.

“The Long Hill Company’s role will be to properly train management staff, establish airtight operations processes, and get the word out about the community through a strategic marketing plan,” he added.

Laura Shortt, Community Relations Manager for Homesteads at Newtown said, “We’ve had our share of management ups and downs and I feel incredibly confident that the changes that will be implemented by The Long Hill Company will positively impact our community now and well into the future.”
